Do not
use Slick-Fifty or other oil additives in a Rotary Engine.
Spark Plugs
Use only NGK or
Nippon Denso brand plugs.
Oil Metering Pump
All Rotary Engines have one. It's located on the front right hand side
of the engine. It constantly pumps a small amount of oil into the intake manifold
to lubricate the rotors and rotor housings. This pump must be working properly.
The two hoses that run from the pump to the intake manifold must be in good condition.
Break-In Period
Rebuilt rotary engines have a break-in period of about 150 miles.
Rotary engines have many internal seals that are made of metal (Apex, side and
corner seals). It takes about 150 miles for these seals to wear in or seat. Fine
tuning to the timing or the intake should be done after the break-in period.
Smoking
During the rebuilding process, oil is used to lubricate the engine
parts as they are being assembled. This oil along with oil left behind from your
old engine can cause some smoke during initial startup. This should stop completely
after the first 10 minutes of running.
Warning!
Do not remove the 19mm main
pulley bolt from your rebuilt rotary engine. This may result in damage to the
needle bearings and/or oil leakage.
